Travelling with the Guitar

I've been called a groupie, a roadie, a coolie... but all I really am is wife to my guitar-playing husband who travels some. I get to tag along, to take me away from the monotony of obsessive house cleaning. Here, I log our adventures with food, airlines, hotels, food, organisers, fans, food, people, books I read. Did I say 'food' already? Well, someone's got to tell people what life's like on the road, right?

History
My almost 70-year-old auntie in Perth has finally arrived in cyberage. Kudos to her for even trying, really. I mean, here's a woman who's never really even mastered the cell phone.

Anyway, I bring her up because she "Google-d" "Roger Wang", she called me to say two days ago. Just three months after overcoming the frightening complexities of the computer. Can you believe it?! She "Google-d" Roger. I thought it was hilarious but was polite enough not to laugh over the phone.

"But his website (watta big word!) is all history, the news outdated," she complained.

I'm speechless. I'm embarassed. I'm mortified. She's almost 70 and she's telling us Roger's website is outdated. I told Roger immediately.

Roger drops everything he had on hand that very night to update his website.

By the way, I've just got to say this - the Australian government's got a wonderful system working for their senior citizens. My aunt is paying just AUS$15 for 10 private one-to-one computer lessons with the instructor. 15 bucks! It's subsidized, of course. And get this! The instructor's 80 years old. Isn't it simply marvelous? The seniors working to help each other, with government support. I'm so impressed. Roger, on the other hand, is still wiping tears from his eyes because he's so tickled with the idea of an 80-year-old computer instructor.
