Travelling with the Guitar

I've been called a groupie, a roadie, a coolie... but all I really am is wife to my guitar-playing husband who travels some. I get to tag along, to take me away from the monotony of obsessive house cleaning. Here, I log our adventures with food, airlines, hotels, food, organisers, fans, food, people, books I read. Did I say 'food' already? Well, someone's got to tell people what life's like on the road, right?

September 30, 2006
Roger's been staying home (in Sabah) lately because he's been very, truly, super busy with studio work. Plus, it'll be less than a month before they launch "No Strings Attached"!!!!! That's right, you heard it first, here on this blog. I've not even gotten around to adding this latest news on his website yet.

For the last two days, I've been waking up to Farid Ali singing in our living room. (Roger likes to test the sound and quality of the songs on every single CD player we own: in the house, in the car) So I have super-secret info on the album. And I'm bursting to spill the beans. But that would be so wrong.

All I can say is that ...
1. I've really enjoyed waking up to the songs and
2. (whisper) roger sings in this album.

I know, I know! It's really exciting and for me, even a little ticklish, to hear him sing. It's the first time he sings in his albums and though he's only Farid's backup singer, it makes me giggle quite furiously.

I've asked him to sing his "Yucky Sushi" or "So You Want To Be A Guitar Player" song and put it in this album but he gives me a firm but definite head shake. What does a person have to do to make him record that? Have his babies?! Sheesh.

No Black Tie's Acoustic Series -August 24, 2006
Sometimes, when Roger travels out of town for a night, I can't tag along. Mainly because the price of my airfare equates to TWO "Me Nights". No less. So when he's out for a night, I stay home.

NBT Acoustic Series was one such time. Roger's gig with Farid at this event was for one night only. I wish I could tell you what they did, what songs they played but I can't. Not without Roger sitting right next to me.

So, while I can't tell you much about this gig, pictures can. So I'm going to let these pictures taken by Brian of alldatjazz.com take over....

Here they are in the beginning.....

Then, they really got into it. Check Roger's expression..

Suddenly, it's all over. Time flies when you're having fun...

See Roger and Farid happy with themselves after another good show.

(footnote: It's taken me a month to complete this entry. I'm going to start by blaming ... um... Streamyx for the slow uploads of pictures. Then Streamyx prints an apology in the papers about some faulty cables affecting their service in Sabah and Sarawak so all's forgiven. Then, ummm..... I procrastinated because ... I procrastinated. Sorry!)
